Another favourite spot is Dingli cliffs. The sea here is also deep and is also very rich. A few live or frozen shrimps can yield a very good catch of very colourful fish. The best areas are exactly under the cliff edge. Here the water is about 40 metres deep. In some areas it is shallower and in other's much deeper. I like to fish in the region of 30/40 metres. I also use light tackle here which proves much more productive and gives the fish a better chance.

Please note that many other various fishing techniques can be used during different seasons but I only mentioned the most productive ones.

The interior of the boat was custom made to my specifications and needs. The centre console houses all the instuments apart from serving as a steering column. It also holds the navigation lights and serves as a storage compartement.
The instruments consist of a GPS chart plotter, echo sounder and compass. Forward of the console is a large custom made fuel tank which holds up to almost 20 gallons of fuel. To the sides of the console are two other compartements to hold tackle, tools, water and any other items needed.

Being quite a small boat it is amazing how I suceeded in including so many things. Every space has its purpose. Fitted at the aft end is a downrigger which I had made myself and which is used when surface trolling gives no results.

Safety is also a key factor so all necessary items such as life jackets, flares, first aid and sea anchor are never missing.


My next project will definetely be a larger boat with similar specifications. An 18/20 footer with a 90/150 4 stroke outboard. I personally prefer outboard motors because they leave a lot of space inside and they are much faster. Speed is a very important factor. It not only takes you from one place to another quicker but also takes you back home in a shorter expanse of time if the weather changes.
